A while back Megan found some RM Williams moleskin deadstock in bone and burgundy, and Katherine, Megan and I got 2m of each colour each and decided that it would be our next sewalong, which coincided beautifully with Jamming June for Magamsewalong.

Katherine dyed her light moleskin pale blue, which is gorgeous and stopped us looking as though we are escaped airline cabin crew.

I made the Stokx patterns Square Pants and Sewing MasinJameela jacket. I made the longer jacket, rather than the short version and wondered how it would look, but it’s a handy length and I managed to use pretty much all my fabric, which is always a bonus. .

There was a bit of a discussion as to which was the right side (a check in RM Williams shows that the fluffy side is the right side) but I decided to use the non fluffy side as the outside. I have to say that this fabric is really warm.

In order to conserve fabric I pieced one of the back pockets. I had mere scraps left over. I used a scrap of my marbled leather as a label.

I have teamed them with my Carbeth cardigan here and think this will be a common combination.

They go really well with my ankestrick holsten jumper and the everlasting scarf that I bought from Megan. She has a beautiful collection of these scarves, made using images of paintings by her mother.

I wore the jacket to a meeting and teamed it with jeans and my crocheted scarf.

I found a scrappy label that came from some jeans and thought I could refashion it into a new label. I turned it over, and used the foiling tool on my Cricut.

I’m really happy with this and sewed it onto one of the jacket pockets, but it’s too big, so it may get unsewn and used on something else.

All that remained was to catch up with the other two members of the gang and we had a wonderful visit to the Embroiderer’s Guild exhibition at the Wireless Hill park museum. Amazing display and recommended to anyone in Perth. Thank you to Megan for these photos.

You can see the beautiful blue of Katherine’s jacket.

We sat outside for our Fashion on the Sofa Friday photos and chatted about our makes, the Great British Sewing Bee, and our children.

I’m not sure what was amusing us here…

It was a lovely catchup and a most enjoyable challenge, and the weather was perfect for us. We are sitting in front of an owl sculpture, which is quite lovely and here for your enjoyment.

Finally a photo of Little E playing with a sock dog I made. Not totally successful in my opinion, but the girls seem to like it; I know this because it’s migrated from my house to theirs! Esme, The Liz Haywood Zero Waste doll has also moved house!
