In the 1980s my mother recovered her sofas and chairs with this magnificent floral linen and my sister recently passed on the scraps to me. I’ve already made a pair of Stokx Square Pants from it, but had a fair bit left over, so I dyed a couple of pieces. I used synthetic dyes because I was being lazy. I wanted a khaki colour, so used green and brown and finished up with… blue! Well more blue than green that’s for sure! Here it is with a scrap of the original colour.

I had a bit of a yearning for another Pattern Union Felix jacket, in a duster length. This is such a nice make and I’ve already worn it during a chilly early morning walk. Here I am preparing to head off. It was windy and I was pleased to have the jacket. I’ve teamed it with the Pattern Union Bib and Tucker and it is a perfect pairing.

It goes really well with my brown Pattern Union Phoebe Bib and Tucker, but how does it look with the square pants in the original colour.

Not sure if this is a pairing I will embrace! What do you think?

I showed my nifty Clover pocket shaper on IG, so will show it here too. I bought it in Japan years ago and it has four different shaped curves. I was making curved pockets and this makes it easy to ease the fabric into the curved corners.

I had oodles of this fabric, but didn’t want to cut into a big piece for a pocket, so I patched one together. I hid the seam with a leather label, and quite like this look. I love the fit of this jacket.

This jacket comes in three lengths and has a few other options. The length I chose is “Opera Length”

I didn’t bind the front edges, I just used the selvedge. However I did bind the neck and hem edges, but turned the binding under so it wouldn’t look weird.

I lined the sleeves with some brown silk satin I had in my stash. It feels very luxurious when I put the jacket on, and I bound all the seams with vintage cotton bias binding from my stash. I’m pleased to say that it was made in Australia.

I wore the duster out for a catchup with Meggipeg and SewBlooms today, but couldn’t bring myself to wear the coordinating trousers, so wore it with my zero waste trousers. It goes very nicely. The top is new but it might get its own post soon. A sewn seated shot too.

It’s about finding pattern that features an older model on the cover. This challenge aims to highlight those pattern companies who recognise maturer sewists. Finally, I thought you might like this video of Miss G with her Daddy. I love how she asks for more and then says “pleeeease”! This video went on for quite a long time, and it didn’t get any less cute.
