As I’ve mentioned previously I’ve begun to volunteer at St Pat’s Op Shop in Fremantle, I’ve made a few new things for them to sell and thought I should record them.

I made another LB pullover out of the leftover jeans from the first one.

I had to spend a lot of time piecing as I was down to scraps. I made a collar on the bias and managed to get the cuffs out of a waistband.

I had to hide a few crimes, a carelessly acquired hole was covered with a belt loop, and a stain, which lools like glue was covered with a pocket. A couple of holes on the cuff were covered with another belt loop

I’m happy to report that both of the tops, this one and the previously reported one, have sold.

I then took a shirt which was size XS and cut off the cuffs, cut off the bottom, and used the bottom cut off to create a diagonal crossover effect. It’s a bit hard to see here, especially with my hands held up like a rabbit! It needs to be noted that this shirt is a bit small for me.

These photos might make the changes clearer. The wrap is secured with a tie which is attached at the side seam.

I have also refashioned this plain blue shirt. It had a straight bottom so it has bcome a skirt. I unpicked the pocket and cut straight across under the armholes.

I cut a waistband from the shirt above the cut and added more buttonholes.

The finished skirt is quite cute. I sewed the pocket back on and used part of a lanyard to border it. I made an Earthling label to put across the top. I shamelessly copied this from Blanca, @Blakandblanca on IG. I did ask her if that was ok and she was more than happy for me to do this. I had a lot of trouble with the iron at repatched and by the time I’d worked it out, my label had shifted slightly. I’m pretending it’s supposed to be wonky as there’s not a thing I can do about it!

Now I have to repurpose the leftovers. I was thinking shrug, but then I cut the waistband above that button.

I made the trousers from “Sewing Without Scraps”. They are too big for me and for my dressmaking model, but I felt you should see them in their entirety.

They are made from a piece of curtain lining to which I added a few pieces of lace. I added more after I took the photo above, taking it all the way to the waistband. Some of these pieces hide stains and a tear.

The trousers have welts on the two front pockets and the back pocket.

I felt that back pocket was desperate for an earthling label!

I am really enjoying making for RePatched. It’s challenging me to be a bit less conservative as the customers seem to love things that are a bit different. Yes, this is me, stretching my creativity!
