Tauko Magazine Centrefold

I was lucky enough to make a pattern from the latest issue of Tauko Magazine, Issue 16 and I chose the TAUKO Centrefold by Lara Eichwede. I chose it because I thought it was a pattern I could easily adapt for winter conditions and it looked like it would be useful for upcycled fabrics.

It’s a fairly minimalist, but elegant, pattern with a grown on collar, which is faced, a two piece sleeve with cuffs and slits, and a back with a centre seam.

My first version was made exactly as per the instructions. I made a size 3 as that fitted my bust measurement and the darts were in the correct spot (a miracle) and it doesn’t seem oversized in the hips, so I didn’t grade down.

I used the leftover scraps from my Gorman quilt cover and I couldn’t like it more!

This will be a perfect summer make, so I decided to try it on with summery things:

The most obvious pairing is the Liz Haywood Zero Waste Clair Skirt made from the same quilt cover.

It all looks as though it needs a press because I had been trying on clothes and flinging them around all day. Will I ever wear these together? Not sure, but I might!

The Pattern Union linen Hannah culottes are a perfect pairing. I feel like an ice cream!

My Stokx patterns long flirt skirt made from a green sheet also seemed obvious and I’m sure this will be a useful summer combination.

I love it with my Stokx Play Pants.

and of course it’s perfect with my new pink Fibremood Tasha shorts.

This top used up my very last pieces of this quilt, which is a bit sad.

I did sew on a heart, but once again it’s quite subtle. I don’t think I mind too much though.

After my last post where I showed you my son making balustrading, I thought I’d show you the stadiums he’s making to go between each vertical piece. Stadiums are straight pieces with semicircles at each end. He has to make 28 of them – 56 ends – which he will weld together to make the complete stadiums. He designed and made a jig so they are all identical. I spend a lot of time being fascinated by what he’s doing!

  1. I love this. You know what might be cute? With the front and back seams you could have the option to put a tiny split at the hemline to mirror the cuff splits. Either front, back or both. I want to try this. Love seeing your makes. Happy sewing..
