I’ve been doing a bit of dyeing lately, most of it red for a few Christmas type things and a new top for me, to be reported on soon. As the dyeing finishes I throw in other fabric just so it doesn’t get wasted and it tends to come out pink.

My son-in-law has given me a massive box of his late grandmother’s fabrics and a few notions, and I have been having fun. It largely consists of tablecloths and sheets, some of which I’ve shared, some of which I’ve made into tea towels, and the rest I’ve been making into garments. I had to have some pink Stokx Play Pants! This is such a great pattern, huge pockets, cute split at the hem and flat front with elastic back, so they are easy to wear but a bit less casual.

I make size 0 and they are still a bit big over the hips, but otherwise they fit well, although I’ve reduced the elastic in the waist twice already. I added 3cms to the length so that the split at the hem would sit at the top of my foot, where I like it.

I’m wearing them here with my Fibremood Harper, which is a combination I really like. Please note the hose circle I’m standing in – this seems to be a common occurence!

then I teamed them with a Stokx Skater top which coordinates perfectly, and there’s something nice about wearing more than one pattern from a designer.

I wore this top for the road trip to our holiday place, calling in at Black Diamond Lake for lunch. This was a detour, but so worth it. Look at this spot!

I lined the pockets with a rather lovely silk scarf. I can’t really get a photo inside them now, so here is a photo of the wrong side. It’s nice to see I think, and gorgeous to put my hands in.

I went a bit mad with labels for these. I added a Stokx in the wild, along a pocket edge, a

and the year of manufacture on the inside.

I had a play with some different tops – pink is definitely a neutral! This is my Stokx Hacker Top.

Underneath the hacker top I had a very old tee shirt, that I think I made in 2013.

I teamed it with my reversible Elbe Textiles Staley tee shirt.

Please note the hose in the background – there’s no getting away from them!

I turned the tee shirt inside out to wear it the other way without the stripes.

This will not be the last time you’ll see these pink play pants as I’ve made a couple of other tops which I think team nicely.

In the meantime here is some light entertainment for you. A friend gave me a whole box of small groceries, and then I found a child sized Woolworths basket in an op shop. I presented them to Miss G, who actually gasped with joy. She then proceeded to scan the items into the basket, which made me smile.
