Fibremood Odyna

When Fibremood released their latest magazine full of really interesting patterns I was very tempted to buy the magazine itself, but the postage was more than the magazine and I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I was lucky enough to be given the Delma and the Donna by Fibremood, but I was a bit smitten with the Odyna, which has two collar sizes, a centre back pleat, and two different sleeves, one with an interesting cuff and the other with no cuff but a pleat. This is a report of the cuffed sleeved version as per version 2, with the smaller collar, view b.

I have had some beautiful fabric in my stash for several years – it is Kissing Hearts stretch cotton from Tessuti in Sydney. It is navy with white hearts and I remember thinking I had to have it and then I didn’t make anything with it – so typical! Anyway, it was perfect for this shirt and I have made it as per the pattern with no changes.

I tried it on as soon as I made it, hence the green shorts! This is a size medium graded to a small at the hips and I’m thinking I should make a straight small with a full bust adjustment for my next one – it fits ok at the front, but I can see some tell tale wrinkles at the shoulders which tell me that it’s a little big. You can see that lovely pleat at the back though, which is a favourite feature.

Here is a close up of the fabric – I spent some time trying to pattern match, but it was a lost cause. I found some fabulous blingy buttons in my stash, which I think came from my mother. They seemed perfect and I had exactly the right number!

The cuffs are interesting – not quite French and not quite barrel, they are long with a button near the sleeve. They can be folded over to give the appearance of a French cuff (and keep them out of the washing up), or left hanging over the hands. I didn’t reduce the sleeve length but if I was going to wear the cuffs as a single layer I might consider it.

Cue awkward posing!

Although the fabric is dark navy, the shirt goes pretty well with my black wool Stokx Play Pants.

The shirt is quite cropped which is what I was looking for, but it would be easier to make it longer, or shorter.

The other sleeve is a temptation, stay tuned to see if I succumb!

Miss G is getting more and more interesting. She’s now dressing her dolls as well as undressing them, and they are now toilet trained and there’s a lot of pretend activities around that whole scenario. Here she is with toilet paper in hand and baby upside down!

The video is quite cute!
