My little granddaughter was visiting and found Buzzy, my sock monkey, and it was clear that she wanted him. I love the way she wrapped his arms around her tummy.

I am not ready to relinquish Buzzy, he belongs in my home, so I found a selection of socks and asked her to choose a pair and I’d make her a sock monkey of her very own. She immediately chose a blue pair with sheep. Girl clearly knows her own mind!
Once again, I followed the excellent tutorial from Four Patch Textiles, but I think my socks have longer cuffs as I always find my monkeys to be more leggy than the ones in the tutorial. Not that it matters. The ribbing round the top was also quite long, so I did trim the hands and feet.

I completely forgot his nostrils but the consensus was that his face was cute, so I left them off. I also stuffed the tail as I forgot it has a different method. There may have been bad words!
He spent a night with Buzzy as they hung out on the mantelpiece.

I felt quite sad when I had to take Sheepie to his new home!
I tucked him in my tote with just his tail showing and told Miss E that I had something for her. She was quite reluctant to hold him – I’m not sure if she was shy or scared, so I told her that Sheepie was very nervous about coming to a new home where he didn’t know anyone and she needed to look after him and make him feel welcome. She immediately took him and tucked him up on her sister’s bed for a little sleep.

Then she carried him around for a while, showing him his new home (so sweet!). She also examined him fairly carefully.
He was taken for a walk in the dolls pram

and given a ride on the rocking horse. She’s a bit big for the horse now but it was her daddy’s so it’s rather precious.

She even insisted that he watch her clean the robot vacuum cleaner – I believe in training them young…

She has taken Sheepie everywhere with her since getting him, so I am thrilled that he’s fallen on his feet in terms of care and company.
Whilst all this was going on, Miss Pepper was chilling out with one of her toys, a rare picture of tranquility and calm.

I love this post. Your granddaughter’s interactions with the uber-cute Sheepie are adorable and precious. Seeing her treat Sheepie with such care and devotion touched my heart and aroused some fond childhood memories. My parents never let my sisters and me have real pets so we loved our stuffed animals to pieces – oh the adventures we shared with them! (Thanks from New Mexico.)
