It absolutely had to happen, I took a jeans leg and made a coat for Pepper, using Simplicity 9520, which is exactly what I was looking for. I made View D without the appliqué, although that O made to look like a paw is very cute and I’m sure I’ll succumb at some point.

No in progress shots of course, but you can see that I needed to move the velcro on the body as it’s a bit big. Can I mention at this point that I’m really surprised that she doesn’t object to the coat.

A bit of unpicking and resewing later and it’s pretty good. Now be prepared for an explosion of Pepper photos!
She still enjoys the sausage I made her from scraps.

I sewed on a heart to promote awareness of women’s heart health. Pepper understands that this is an important message.

She blends in with the sofas

I lined the coat with the remnant of a child’s flannelette sheet, so it should be warm, but not as warm as sheepskin would be, according to my youngest son.

It worked well on her daily walk, sadly sans me as I’m currently grounded with a minor hip complaint, but she still enjoyed it, especially with a warm body. BTW, the dog walker is head to toe in me mades too.

I also knitted Pepper a jumper. This was a free pattern I found and I knitted it twice as the first one was too big. I might donate it to the dogs home rather than frog it. I haven’t quite finished this as the armholes need to be finished, but I wanted to test it for size and then she didn’t want to take it off.

She can look like butter wouldn’t melt, but don’t be fooled. This is a mischievous dog!
Here she is mid excitement at wearing a new jumper.

And finally, extreme joy. This is a common sight – Pepper airborne

Next up will be a raincoat and I know she’s excited at the prospect.
Young dogs do old tricks? (Look cute!) I was not surprised seeing Pepper seated ;=) Am I correct that this dog loves affection… pretty much any attention… if she “likes” to wear clothing? It’s difficult to look at the coat rather than Pepper, but great job!
I’m enjoying the denim inspiration and I hope you’re not getting to the bottom of the pile…
Pepper turns herself inside out for love! She is so funny and always makes us feel good. She’s like a little shadow. She’s owned by my son but loves being with us too. I have so much more denim to get through! Thank you Lodi!
