A tee party and some square pants

At Magamsewalong we have been having a tee party, so I was keen to join in. I wanted to use the pattern I rubbed off a Visage tee shirt, which has a raglan sleeve at the back but not the front. This is how the pattern pieces ook. That top piece on the back (left) gets folded down to join the diagonal on the front (right).

I used a piece of striped knit from Woven Stories Textiles. The front looks plain with a slightly extended shoulder and the back has the raglan look.

I’ve made this tee shirt a few times but the neck feels higher on this one, so I’ve modified the pattern now.

I had very little fabric to play with so added vertical stripes down the sides to accommodate the width. I also added a label.

I wore the tee out for coffee with friends and teamed it with my Fibremood Gizeh pants and leather Liz Haywood Zero Waste Belt Bag. I felt very pulled together.

I’ve worn this tee a few times already, and it has survived some gardening and possible maltreatment in the washing machine when I unthinkingly tossed it in.

I made a new pair of Stokx Square Pants from a white tablecloth I dyed red. I was a bit short of fabric so piecing was required.

For the lining pieces I used a remnant of old curtain from my sister’s stash. It was narrow and had multiple tatty bits. It also had a join down the middle. I managed to get all the pieces cut out of it and had just slivers of fabric left, which I always consider a win.

The trousers went together really easily and quite quickly, although I think I make them differently each time, even though I follow the instructions! I really like the buckle I used for the back belt and it doesn’t slip.

I might be dyeing these again as they are a trifle patchy.

Worn here with the striped tee.

I made a second tee to add to the party – this time the Closet Core free tee which I’ve made before, a couple of times I think. Once again I used a knit from Woven Stories Textiles, but this one is a heavier knit and beautiful quality.

I only had 50cms of fabric and I felt that the tee was a bit short so used some perfectly matching red ponte to create a wide band round the bottom. I used the same ponte for the neckband. I love how the flowers sweep down the front and back of this one. Again it’s paired with my new red Stokx Square Pants, and once again I had mere shreds of fabric left.

This was my Christmas Day outfit. The temperature had plummeted from 41°C to 23°C so I was very comfortable. Christmas Day brought some delightful cuddles with my newest granddaughter, who is now a month old!

I also met the newest granddog, Winnie, for the first time. She is owned by our eldest granddaughter R. The pup is a German Shorthaired Pointer and is 12 weeks old. Those ears are so soft and silky. She is gorgeous.

We had three themes for the tee party: Classic Tees, Fancy Tees and Free Tees. I consider my rubbed off tee to be a free pattern and the Core Tee is a free pattern, so I clearly fit into the free category! This was such a fun challenge and I would make a third except I’m off on a little holiday tomorrow.

  1. I love the way you pieced your red and white striped tee. I like the look of the raglan sleeve on the back of the tee and wonder if you could adjust the pattern to have that feature on the front?

    1. It’s a very similar T shirt to Jennifer Lauren’s Bronte pattern, which I think I found through Sue’s blog, and which I make ALL THE TIME. I must’ve made about 40 by now, and it has the raglan parts at the front.
