self drafted trousers

I’ve had a piece of checked ponte in my stash for a few years, and I’ve finally made it up! I bought it at Mood Fabrics in New York on one of my visits, and I’m so pleased to be wearing them.

I decided to make a pattern that I had cloned from a pair of Visage trousers that I had and loved for years, but which had completely worn out, and I have to say I love these trousers.

I took these photos after a long road trip and the fabric behaved beautifully. Looking at the photos I think the trousers are too long, but that’s an easy fix.

I’m wearing them with a Pattern Union Cora Blouse made from one of my son’s old christmas jumpers. I sometimes where this jumper as a dress!

No photo whilst seated, but I’ve got one laying about reading my book in front of the fire!

I wore them on the plane on my recent holiday – both coming and going as well as various points in between.

I was pretty happy with my pattern matching, and the fit is ok too. This is the only closeup of the back I took. I added a back pocket for my phone, using the bias of the fabric so I didn’t have to pattern match. Then the pocket looked weird at the normal angle, so I had to line it up with the top of the squares and this has skewed it round to the side a bit, but it looks better than on the angle. Please excuse the close up of my derriere, this was me doing a fit photo, which wasn’t intended for public consumption, but it’s the only photo of the back that I have..

These trousers are really easy to style and I like them with my Liz Haywood Zero Waste Optimatium coat. This is how I wore it on the flight home too.

I know these will be in regular rotation, especially once I have taken them up a bit.

To finish off here are a couple of videos of Little E in the local playground.

She crawled to the top of this slide, completely freaking me out as I was at the bottom. Luckily her Dad was there to make sure she was safe. I love Miss G’s happiness when she got to the bottom.

  1. Great trousers! Well done! They look fab! Cute kiddos – in a ‘few days’ they will be going off to uni like my niece and nephew. Zip zip they grow extra fast when you take your eyes off of them. Thanks for sharing their adventures!
