Fibremood Zita

Fibremood has released its 20th edition where you can see all the gorgeous new patterns in the latest range.

I chose the Zita dress to make as I thought it would be perfect for summer and I had some rather lovely donated1980s fabric that was just waiting for a dress like this. The options are an A-line top in two lengths, or a dress. I think I will be making multiples of all of them:

It has side seam pockets and the scooped neckline, open back and armholes are all finished with bias tape.

It finished up being a really fast sew, and I really like the shape.

Of course it’s winter here in Australia, and I had a lot of goosebumps taking these photos, so I also styled the dress for cooler weather.

A black merino top is the perfect base layer. I love that the dress looks more like a pinafore like this, and it’s instantly transformed to a cool weather dress.

I liked the black so much I decided to try orange, which I don’t mind, but feel as though I need layers with a higher neckline.

I’m also imagined it with red layers, and played dress-up to test it out.

The Zita dress may be accompanying me on a holiday in September. The fact that I can layer it means that I can be covered for cooler weather but wear it alone if the weather is still warm. I had to test it with the Ozetta Field Day cardigan, of course!

This is a lovely, well drafted pattern that is simple enough to make from busy fabrics

And just to brighten your day, a little video of Mark entertaining Miss G by sticking a spinner on his head – again!
