Back in 2022 I knitted the Ozetta Field Cardigan from some beautiful silvery wool given to me by my friend Jenny. I loved the cardigan but every time I put it on it just felt too big.
I had the choice of pulling it down and reknitting it in a smaller size or knitting it into a jumper. Either way I would have a useful layering piece. I thought long and hard and in the end I went for the jumper.
It’s from the book Knit by Jo Sharp and she has patterns for both long and cropped, high neck or round neck.
I decided to knit the cropped version as I wasn’t sure how much wool I would have, and the round neck. The jumper has really lovely shoulders, which was a bonus. I pulled it all down and did my best to get rid of the kinks, but there are several sections which are a bit bumpy, which I thought I had documented, but can’t find the photos.
The arms are very long but I can rolle them or turn them up, and the bottom naturally rolls. It is quite short, but I thought it would be useful with high waisted trousers and skirts.
You can just see the ribbing across the top of the shoulders. This is a really nice feature. Also, a stray thread on my derrière – I was obviously sewing when I was wearing this.
It’s proven to be a really handy jumper, useful to wear under jackets, here worn with the denim jacket which Hélène gifted to me when I visited her in Canada.
I’m also wearing fingerless gloves which I knitted from some of the leftover wool. I quite like having gloves that match my jumper.
I thought you’d enjoy the photo of Miss E helping me clean her family’s robot vacuum cleaner, and she did an excellent job. I was doing it and she dragged her steps over and joined in. Then she dried the dishes for me and put away all the unbreakable things. It’s good to put the young ones to work!
