During the SewApril competition earlier this year I won some fabric from Fibers to Fabric and I chose this beautiful viscose rayon, which feels like silk, it’s so drapey and smooth, and yes, silky!
I didn’t get very much but really wanted to use it for summer as it is so pretty. I considered many patterns but in the end went for the Esme top by Lotta Jansdotter. Another Esme!
I did the very simple version with capped sleeves.
I accidentally cut the front too short but managed to pattern match and add a band. I don’t think it’s too visible. Can you see it?
Of course I immediately knew that this top would go with my pink Stokx play pants!
I am besotted with this combination and can imagine reaching for it often.
I’ve made so many Esmes that the only decision I needed to make was about length. I used almost the full length of the fabric and only had tiny scraps left over.
This is such a comfortable outfit. I’m a bit sad that you can’t see the sprinkles of gold. Those tiny leaves are gold and they give the fabric such a lift.
This is my sewn seated shot; it was a beautiful morning for sitting outside and reading a book. I’m deep into myths at the moment.
Unfortunately I have no new photos of the grandchildren, it might be time for some babysitting!
