I decided that I needed a skirt for my Sew a Seasonal Wardrobe challenge, and, given my impost of using a pattern I’ve never used before, I chose Vogue 1524, a skirt pattern from the 1970s, so it also meets my vintage pledge requirement.
As you can see, it goes with my velvet jacket and my raspberry merino top. I also made another top, again from some merino that the moths got to, this time in a gorgeous persimmon colour. I had to make this one with short sleeves as the chomping was a bit worse. I self-drafted this top pattern, although it is very simple. I made the belt from burgundy elastic and used a vintage buckle from my stash.
and this top goes really well with the velvet jacket. 
But back to the hero of this post – the skirt. This is view C from Vogue 1524, which is the blue one in the picture below. What I love about this pattern is that every view is different in some way, and I intend to make them all.
View C has welt pockets with a button tab and a front split.
The back is a traditional A-line skirt with an invisible zip (although the pattern calls for a lapped zip). The fabric is a really nice stretch cotton gaberdine which was left over from some trousers I had made Mark. The buttons came from a little shop in Barcelona and they are ceramic.
One last photo showing how nicely that velvet jacket sits over the skirt.
It is still too warm to model the striped cardigan, but it goes with everything, trust me. By my reckoning I have completed the eight pieces, but I have another couple of items yet to blog.

That velvet jacket is getting plenty of use. It is so versatile. I love your bright merino tops and new skirt too. I wish we could get lovely merino in such wonderful colours, even if they do run the risk of being moth catnip. The skirt pattern looks terrific, but my favourite would be the one you made with the front split, so wearable! The little pockets are great as well.

Its gotta be said – buttons are the best sewing souvenir, they’re so easy to carry aren’t they?! That skirt is skilfully made, just look at your perfect welt pockets, but I especially wanted to compliment you on your beautiful legs – the skirt plays to your strengths as does the raspberry and velvet I think.
