Brown linen trousers

I came back from my sojourn in the bush determined to stashbust lovely fabric that I’ve had hanging around far too long. Cue this brown linen bought at Potter Textiles for some unremembered purpose. I decided to make Mark a pair of trousers that would be good for casual wear – i.e. coffee and shopping.

I used my old favourite Kwik Sew 3663

I added zips in the side pockets. The zips came from my Mother’s stash and, although they are both brown, they don’t actually match. I decided this wasn’t an issue as it’s impossible to see them together.

The zip fits better than it looks here as it’s not zipped up to the top, so looks a bit sloppy. I did find an old pair of trousers with zipped pockets and they are designed very differently so I intend to unpick them and copy the design.

This pattern has been tweaked and tweaked and is now the perfect fit for Mark.

I asked him to pose and this is what I got!

and here he is joking with Archie, as they compare notes on the cost of my sewing them clothes – the price is, of course, a modelling session.

Details: Pattern is Kwik Sew 3663, made with brown linen from Potter Textiles. The shirt is one I originally made for Archie and now handed down to Mark, and it goes perfectly with the trousers.
