Bronte number 3

I’ve had this fabric in my stash for many, many months and I am pleased that it’s finally left the cupboard.

It is a knit panel which I’ve looked at on multiple occasions and had no idea what to make from it.

I initially thought I would add another colour to it, and had a piece of green knit picked out. However, when I looked at it this weekend, I figured I might just get another Bronte top from the piece.

My next issue was the pattern matching, but I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.

My only issue was that the knit isn’t overly stretchy and I should have gone up a size or two. However, I can wriggle into it and it’s not uncomfortable.

I also made the skirt at the weekend. This was self drafted – basically a rectangle with a bit of shaping at the top and a matching waistband. This is the second one I made at the weekend and it took 20 minutes from start to finish. The first one took a bit longer and I will show that one separately.

Yes, I got dressed in the dark and am wearing navy tights rather than black!

This little bronze sculpture is really cute. The chimney I am holding has a little nest with eggs in on the top. A really nice detail.

The details:

Bronte top by Jennifer Lauren Vintage, made from a panel (it turned out to be polyester mix, sadly) bought from Knitwit, I think. Skirt is a self-drafted pattern from a double knit fabric also bought at Knitwit. Shoes are Issi bought in Queenstown, NZ about ten years ago! Setting is Mrs Herbert’s Park in Claremont, just near my house. The sculptures are part of the park bench – aren’t they divine?

I will also mention that we are in the middle of winter, so the weather is also pretty divine!DSC09934

  1. What a lovely spot! Your top looks great. Doesn’t it feel nice to come up with a good use for fabric that has been in the stash a long time?

    1. It is a great spot at weekends when it is full of families having picnics and dogs swimming. I have to choose my moments for the photos so I don’t look ridiculous 🙂

  2. I think this is a very sylish outfit. The skirt and the top look fantastic on you.
