…as long as it’s green! I have always had an alarming, almost pathological attraction to the colour green and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. A cursory perusal of my stash cupboard shows quite a few more pieces of green fabric and a whole box of green wool.
I bought this green Jo Sharp cotton on sale, which I then knitted into a t-shirt, which I didn’t like, then a moebius that I never finished. I finally frogged it and knitted this simple top. [I have just noticed a green thread sticking out – doh!)
The pattern came in the form of a photocopy from one of my friends and it is from 1986. Interestingly, I’ve seen a few of these in the shops in the last year, so it seems to be a timeless style.
This one is knitted in two parts – front and back – and as I was knitting I kept thinking that it could be done in the round, so I have embarked on another version, being knitted from the bottom up as a single piece of knitting, so no seaming required, and it is also reversible. If it works, I shall be sharing the pattern.
I was asked to include more photos of the river, so here you go, this time close to where I live, and it’s where I walk my dog (when she’s up to it – getting old, sadly).
I think the top has grown over the course of the day – it seemed quite short when I first sewed it up; the hazards of cotton, I suspect. Having said that, I quite like that loose, drapey, slouchy look.

Just testing it now. I’ll be posting in about a week!
great colour, great with the white pants. I recall hand knitting something similar in the 80’s.
Yes, I think we all did! If you want it, I have the pattern, and I am also developing a no sew version.
Love this top and the colour is amazing. You already know what I think about the bag, very cool!
That’s a gorgeous top, and I love the slouchiness of the design 🙂
Wowwww! that outfit is effortlessly stunning!
Easy to do…
