The Stashbuster Sewalong theme for February is “love” – creating things for those we love, so I’ve been making my menfolk shirts. I already made the chevron shirt for Mark, and now I’ve made this shirt for Tom from the loveliest Japanese cotton in a tiny, little, check that I originally bought for Mark (oops!). This fabric is supersoft and feels like silk.
Not a lot else to say about this shirt really. The pattern is my old friend Kwik Sew 3422 which I have modified to fit Tom fairly well. I started out trying to match those tiny checks, gave up, and found they all matched up perfectly by themselves. Yay!
The buttons cost $1 in the Red Cross shop, and they are perfect for this shirt. I wanted to put a heavier interfacing in the collar, but my sons like light interfacing – go figure!
And a last photo showing it under his suit jacket
He’s put in an order for a matching pocket square. Grrr, all that folding and ironing, but I’m getting better at that!
The details:
Pattern is Kwik Sew 3422
Fabric is Japanese cotton fine check from Potters Textiles
Setting is my scruffy garden!
