Lutterloh bathrobe

I bought this rather boring beige coloured towelling in a Spotlight super sale and it’s been in the cupboard ever since, taking up a great deal of space. I am making January my stashbuster month, so this is the first fabric to be made up, thereby freeing up half a shelf.

DSC07074-2My intention was to dye it once I had made it up into a bathrobe for Mark. Well, he didn’t want it, but I fancied having a towelling bathrobe which I could put on after a swim and save having to dry myself off manually (seriously lazy, I’m telling you!).

Anyway, I had a fossick through my pattern stash and settled on this pattern from Lutterloh.scan

I duly cut it out and then had to consider how it was put together. Lutterloh patterns are typical German engineering in that they are really well designed, but their construction is not necessarily communicated to the sewist! I had no problems until I got to the collar and this took a little while to figure out. However, once done, the rest of the bathrobe came together quickly.

Having made it and worn it, Mark and I both quite like the colour, renamed “cafe au lait” which sounds so much better!

DSC07173This is not the most attractive garment that I have ever made (minor understatement!), but it is functional and does exactly the job that I had planned.

DSC07175The details:

Pattern is Lutterloh

Fabric is towelling from Spotlight

Shoes are Claire Powell leather thongs which I’ve had for many years.
