Another Springlike day…

…and another new top. This time it’s Vogue 7525, which I was attracted to because of the neck shape and the asymmetrical hemline.

v7525

Mine turned out like this – you can’t see the neckline but the “v” part which I really liked, sits right up at my throat, which I hadn’t envisaged. I also put a belt on it because I put belts on almost everything!

Here it is without the belt

and now with the belt…

I will make this again, but will use a softer, more flowing fabric next time. I made the mid-length tunic, but might make the longer one next time as mine looks more like the middle one in the pattern picture and I wanted it longer. I’m not sure how this happened, but I’m not too troubled by it.

I was very happy with my finish on this top. The overlocker didn’t get a look in – I used the old fashioned method of folding back the raw edges to neaten the seams.

Pattern review:

Pattern Description:
Misses’ loose-fitting, bias, pullover, unlined, A-line dress, above mid-knee (centre back) or tunic (two-lengths) has shaped hemline, side-slit and long sleeves.

Pattern Sizing:
8 -10-12. I made size 8

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when finished?
Yes, although I made view B, although I think it turned out more like view A. My neckline isn’t as low as on the pattern packet.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. The two main pattern pieces are cut on the bias but the whole body is provided rather than the two halves. This made management of the fabric easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I was attracted by the neckline, and the asymmetrical hemline.

Fabric Used:
A cotton/spandex mix. It probably has too much body.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
None.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I will make it in a softer, drapier fabric. I would definitely recommend it.
Conclusion:
This is an easy pattern. The skirt and trousers aren’t to my taste, so probably won’t make them, but it is nice to get three patterns in one. I don’t think this pattern is in the current catalog, but there are plenty for sale on eBay.

The details:

Pattern – Vogue 7525. This is an easy pattern and has a very attractive neck, but mine finished up a bit high in the front.

Fabric is a cotton/spandex mix from Potter’s,  I actually bought enough to make trousers as well but think I’ll look like I’m in pyjamas if I put the two together. I might make a basic shift dress for summer from the left overs.

Trousers are my black Elle Pants from StyleArc.

Shoes are Riotino from Sab Five Five, Claremont

Stretch leather belt from Sab Five Five, Claremont

Necklace is Samantha Wills, a birthday present from my lovely Senior Admin Officer (and friend), Tania 😉

GCC: Yep, going well, managed 24,000 steps yesterday

On another note – today is my parents’ 69th wedding anniversary!!

  1. Another winning tunic. Somehow this pattern escaped my attention until now. Very nice on you and I like the high vee neckline as well. thx!

  2. This looks great! It’s a lovely flattering silhouette and I like the fabric you chose. It’s always worth hanging onto those older Vogue patterns, they used to have some really nice, innovative and stylish ones and once they’re gone; they’re gone! I really regret throwing out some of my older ones 🙁
